The Challenge

This client came to us through People of Play with a children’s time-management clock designed to help kids of all abilities better understand time and build independence. Using 30+ years of experience as a Speech-Language Pathologist and executive function specialist, our client created a clock featuring brightly colored animals to help kids of all abilities understand the concept of time and build independence, but needed support refining it for scalable production.

• The original product relied on modified clocks purchased online and hand-applied graphics, which created durability issues and limited long-term scalability

• The clock needed more kid-friendly graphics and a polished, production-ready method for applying them

​​

• Retail-ready packaging needed to clearly communicate the product’s value, incorporate award recognition, and support easy direct-to-consumer fulfillment

​​

• The final product needed to be durable, safe for children, and cost-effective to manufacture​​​

The Solution

Through brainstorming potential solutions, strategic sourcing, thoughtful design refinement, and close factory collaboration, we helped transform the original concept into a polished, manufacturable product that improved durability, safety, and operational efficiency.

• Our team evaluated a wide range of factory partners to identify an off-the-shelf clock platform that could be customized to meet the client’s needs while keeping costs under control, such as creating a more cost-effective solution for creating custom “Bee” and “Snail” clock hands.

• Careful consideration went into selecting the ideal components, including durability, safety, price point, and a clock motor with minimal ticking volume to better support children with ADHD or sensory sensitivities

​​

• Working closely with the factory, we refined the product with updated graphics, branded legal labeling, a personalized pamphlet, enhanced clock-hand construction, and a molded battery cover for improved child safety

​​

• We also designed both the retail packaging and an inner shipper box, creating a streamlined fulfillment solution that made it easy for the client to label and ship individual units directly to customers

​​

As a new entrepreneur, the client appreciated our working beside her every step of the way, from refining and sourcing, to the delivery of 13 pallets of final product to her home garage.
